Wheels Unplugged reports this morning:
“We are fully ready with the product (customized for the US market) and even the US manufacturing facility (in India). We are waiting for some regulatory approvals to launch the Scorpio in the US in this quarter” – Pawan Goenka, president, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & MahindraIowa-based dealer, D&D Mahindra, confirmed Tuesday on Mahindra Truck Forum that they were told that Mahindra’s US test fleet (25 pickups) have not completed enough test miles to meet the EPA data requirements. The vehicles currently in testing have on average, 70,000 miles, and require 100,000 miles on the clocks before final data may be submitted and approval given.
Wheels Unplugged also reaffirms this morning that Mahindra has no immediate plans to assemble TR20 and TR40 pickups in the United States. Previous reports have also been clear that Mahindra will test the US-market waters before committing to US assembly, but they have been looking for suitable facilities.

everyday I google "latest news mahindra pickup" and include the days date. Get those trucks here! I'm buying the minute a 4dr 4wd preferably leather and white or silver in color hits the lot. Glad I didn't hear about this years ago, that's a lot of daily searches!!! Bad enough I found about them just over a month ago!
i believe they will export the trucks without the cargo bed to avoid the "chicken tax", as gm did with chevrolet luv...
I agree with the Chicken Tax comment. I had originally heard that the beds would be installed in Ohio. I believe that was in one of the early articles on the Mahindra US media pages. This is why I am confused as to why they would hesitate on making the Ute Bed an option, as they have done in Australia, right off the boat. The chassis-cab is an option and the Ute Bed is installed at the same factory or installer (Ohio or at the port) that the factory bed would be installed. Then it shows up at the dealerships along with the rest of the inventory. No added shipping costs. Maybe they will change their minds with enough feedback from anxious customers that want a real work truck.

Mahindra is one of the most reputed brand all over the world. Mahindra Scorpio model is the best model mahindra has produced till date. It will not be tough for mahindra Scorpio to get settled in USA.
Regards.
It is really a good step by Mahindra. USA is one of the biggest automotive brand all over the world. If mahindra will succeed in USA than it will be huge benefit for mahindra brand.
There is too much delay in launching the Mahindra trucks in USA market. US is the big market so they have to make it fast.
USA is the biggest Auto market all over the world. I am sure Mahindra has taken this step and will get success in USA and if this happens then this will be new start for Mahindra.
